Description: In the early stages of the game development of Rooms from Things, I worked alongside other designers to create exploratory concept art for the game. This involved creating character designs, creature concepts, landscape ideas, and other concepts to help shape the visual direction and design of the game. Although my contributions were valuable during the concept phase, the final visual direction of the game took a different path, rendering my concepts obsolete in the end.
Nevertheless, working on the visual development of the game was extremely exciting and fun. Here’s a small selection of the work I did in the weeks I worked on it.
Client: Things
Brief: The brief was simply an exploration of the visual direction of the game during the idea phase of development. I was pretty free in what I did, checking in from time to time to discuss my work.
Technique: The character and creature concepts were drawn in pencil and colored in Adobe Photoshop. The original landscape was drawn in ink and significantly modified and colored in Photoshop.
Year: 2022
Estimated time for completion: About seven characters and creatures a day and one day for three landscapes.
